OVERVIEW
In a recent tunnel project designed to expand a key rail network, the construction team faced difficulties using traditional transport methods. Moving heavy materials like steel rails and concrete through narrow tunnels was slow and inefficient. To solve these problems, Everrail developed the Self-Propelled Gantry Multi-Function Transport Vehicle (GTV). This machine improved the construction process by making it faster, safer, and more cost-effective.
CHALLENGE
Working in tunnels is tough due to the small space and the need for special equipment. In this project, moving heavy materials was difficult, and the team needed a solution that could work in tight spaces. Traditional methods using rail-bound systems were slow and required extra work to lay down tracks. Manual labor was also risky and made the project less efficient. The team needed a better solution to move materials safely and quickly.
GTV SOLUTION
The GTV was the perfect solution to these challenges. Capable of carrying up to 15 tons in a single trip, it required no additional tracks due to its tire-based mobility, allowing it to navigate tunnels with ease. The GTV also featured advanced hydraulic systems and remote controls, enabling efficient material handling even in confined spaces. Its video monitoring system enhanced visibility and ensured safer operations. Additionally, the GTV could function as a tractor for the concrete placing machine and the track laying machine, further expanding its versatility on construction sites.
RESULTS
Using the GTV led to big improvements in the project. The GTV reduced the need for manual labor by almost 30%, which saved money on labor costs. It also sped up the construction process, allowing the team to finish tasks much faster than before. With the GTV, the project stayed on schedule and within budget, reducing downtime and keeping the team productive throughout the project.
